Most travellers can get a Cambodian tourist visa online in a few minutes, or on arrival at the airport. Here is exactly how it works.
The basics
Nearly all nationalities need a visa for Cambodia. The standard tourist visa (type T) is valid 30 days and can be extended once. You can get it two ways: both are straightforward.
Recommended
Apply on the official government portal with a passport scan and a photo. It costs $30 plus a $6 processing fee, usually takes up to 3 business days, and is valid for entry within 3 months. You skip the visa queue on arrival.
Apply on evisa.gov.khAlso easy
Available at international airports and most land borders: fill in a short form, hand over $30 in US dollars cash and your passport. Bring a passport photo (or pay a small extra fee without one). Queues can be long when several flights land at once.
Only use the official e-Visa site
The only official portal is evisa.gov.kh. Lookalike websites charge $50–90 for the same visa, or take your money for nothing. If the URL doesn’t end in .gov.kh, close it.
Mandatory
Cambodia replaced the paper arrival, customs and health forms with a free digital arrival card. Every traveller (including visa-on-arrival and e-Visa holders) must submit it.
Get the “Cambodia e-Arrival” app (iOS/Android) or fill the form at arrival.gov.kh. It is free: pay nothing to anyone for it.
You can complete it up to a week before landing. You’ll need your passport details, flight number and an address in Cambodia (your first hotel is fine).
Save a screenshot of the QR code: airport Wi-Fi can be slow. One submission per person, including children.
Check before booking
Staying longer? The 30-day tourist visa can be extended once for another 30 days through travel agencies in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap (about $45–60). For stays beyond two months, ask for the ordinary “E” visa ($35 on arrival) instead. It extends more flexibly.
Arriving
Cambodia has three international airports and a handful of busy land crossings. All issue visas on arrival, and all accept the e-Visa (check the entry-point list when applying).

At land borders, pay only official fees
The tourist visa costs $30. Nothing more. Politely refuse “express fees”, “health checks” or agents who want to hold your passport. With an e-Visa already in your passport, you can walk straight to the immigration counter.
