The spirit of the journey

New landscapes.
Time to take them in.

The city opens the journey. The forest gives it another pace. The river connects the stops before the temples of Siem Reap.

An example, not a fixed programme. Hélène and Sébastien reshape it around your interests, budget and the season. We design the journey; you choose and book your accommodation, activities and transport.

River & city

Get a feel for the capital.

Start gently: a riverfront walk, your first Khmer meal, then a full night’s sleep. Three nights leave two proper days to discover the capital.

One morning for the palace and older neighbourhoods, another for a museum chosen around your interests. Markets and meals fill in the picture. Sites of remembrance deserve a separate visit and time to reflect afterwards.

  • Day 1 · Arrive, settle in and enjoy the riverfront
  • Day 2 · Heritage and neighbourhoods on foot or by tuk-tuk
  • Day 3 · Museum, market and Khmer food
At your pace

We choose visits with you, accounting for your interests and opening days. No major excursion on arrival day.

Day 4 · Drive to Sen Monorom: roughly 5–6 hours, plus breaks. A travel day, without an evening elephant visit.

Highlands & elephants

In the forest, follow their pace.

After the drive, settle into Sen Monorom. Two full days make room for the forest without a rushed return trip from another town.

Spend one day at Elephant Valley Project if available: walk with a guide and observe rescued elephants in their habitat, without riding, feeding or bathing with them. Keep the other day gentler, with highland scenery, locally grown coffee and time to rest.

  • Day 4 · Drive from Phnom Penh and settle into Sen Monorom
  • Day 5 or 6 · Guided observation at Elephant Valley Project, subject to availability
  • The other day · Highland scenery and free time
At your pace

A full day involves roughly 5–8 km of walking, sometimes on steep or muddy ground. We adapt the visit to your mobility. Advance booking is essential; Saturdays are usually closed. The two days can be swapped.

Day 7 · Travel to Kratie with time for breaks. Allow a good half day; confirm timings and duration with the transport provider.

03 / KratieDays 7–8 · 2 nights

The Mekong & its islands

Meet the river again in Kratie.

The landscape opens up again. An evening on the waterfront, then a full day to see the Mekong beyond a vehicle window.

Water levels guide the choice between a crossing to Koh Trong and a guided outing near Kampi. A respectful operator can look for Irrawaddy dolphins while keeping a distance; their appearance cannot be scheduled.

  • Day 7 · Descend to Kratie and walk along the waterfront
  • Day 8 · Koh Trong island or an outing near Kampi, conditions permitting
At your pace

The river changes with the season. Boats, island access and wildlife observation must be confirmed locally; no sighting is guaranteed.

Day 9 · A road day to Kampong Thom, with a break along the way. We check the vehicle and schedule before committing to a visit that day.

The road & a night to rest

A pause before the temples.

A night in Kampong Thom breaks the journey between the Mekong and Siem Reap. Arrive, have dinner and sleep: this stop does not need a packed programme.

A night in Kampong Thom to break the drive

If Sambor Prei Kuk interests you, a visit may fit the next morning before continuing. We check the detour, timing and your energy; it remains an option, rather than a visit squeezed between transfers.

  • Day 9 · Travel from Kratie and stay in Kampong Thom
  • Day 10 · Optional Sambor Prei Kuk, then drive to Siem Reap
At your pace

This night is a travel break. A morning temple visit extends the next day; choose it only if it appeals to you.

Day 10 · Continue to Siem Reap by road. Keep arrival and the first evening free; start Angkor the following day.

Temples & time to look

End with Angkor, without rushing.

Four nights in Siem Reap, discovering the temples in several visits. Keep arrival evening free; start exploring after a good night’s sleep.

The approach to Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat, the faces of the Bayon, then another temple group we choose together. Two days of visits include breaks during the hottest hours. The last full day can return to a favourite temple, a workshop or the countryside.

  • Day 10 · Travel, settle in and enjoy Siem Reap
  • Days 11–12 · Two days for Angkor, with breaks
  • Day 13 · A day shaped around your interests
  • Day 14 · Depart from Siem Reap, according to your flight
At your pace

Departure is from Siem Reap–Angkor Airport. Allow time for the drive and check-in; any final morning visit depends on your flight time.

Day 14 · Arrange and book your airport transfer separately. The journey ends in Siem Reap, without a road trip back to Phnom Penh.
