Siem Reap is easier to eat well in than most people expect. Between temple visits, these four vegetarian and vegan spots are the ones we keep coming back to — for a slow brunch, a fresh juice, or a proper plant-based dinner. Each is independent, local in spirit, and worth a stop on its own.

Ojas sits behind a wooden sign and a wall of bougainvillea, with seating that spills onto a garden and a wooden deck. The food is colourful and built around vegetables: a shared table here might bring a bright mixed salad, a vegetable omelette-style plate, thick toasts, and a tangle of stir-fried vegetables, with small ceramic cups of tea on the side.

It is the kind of place to settle in for a while. The watermelon-and-basil cooler and the slice of cake with coffee make it as good for an afternoon pause as for a full meal. Good for a relaxed, plant-forward lunch with friends.
Brother Bong Cafe roasts its own coffee — the wall behind the counter reads "we roast our own coffee" — which makes it a natural morning stop. The room is calm and woody, with pendant lights and a small counter, and the brunch leans fresh and photogenic.

Think avocado toast topped with a poached egg, cherry tomatoes and crumbled cheese, and smoothie bowls layered with dragon fruit, banana, granola and chia. Pair it with an iced coffee or a flat white. A solid choice if you want coffee done properly alongside a light vegetarian breakfast.
New Leaf has a more traditional, shophouse feel — terracotta floors, ceiling fans, bookshelves and a long, airy room. It is a comfortable place to sit out the midday heat over a plate of food and a cold drink.

The vegetarian plates are generous and homely: chickpea salad, beetroot, guacamole and golden fritters on one plate, plus thick fruit smoothies in chunky stoneware. It has a community-minded feel that fits an easy lunch between temples.
Banlle puts its garden at the centre — much of what you eat is grown on site, and you may spot someone picking greens from the beds while you order. The dining room is simple and bright, with wooden tables by tall windows looking onto the green.

The cooking is fresh and clearly seasonal: a stir-fried noodle dish with vegetables, peanuts and lime served on a banana leaf, and grain bowls with avocado, tomato and a herby dressing. This is the one to choose when you want a sit-down vegetarian dinner with a sense of place.
Four spots, four moods: Brother Bong for coffee and brunch, Ojas and New Leaf for a long, relaxed lunch, and Banlle for a garden-fresh dinner. All are easy to add to a day of sightseeing.
