Cambodia's three seasons

One tropical climate, three practical seasons. The cool dry season (November–February) is peak travel weather: clear skies, lower humidity, comfortable mornings. The hot dry season (March–May) climbs toward 35°C before the rains break. The green (wet) season (June–October) is lush and quiet, with short, heavy afternoon downpours rather than all-day rain.

Coast vs. inland

The islands and southern coast catch more rain than the temple plains: Koh Rong peaks near 520 mm in September, while Siem Reap tops out around 318 mm. Switch regions on the chart above to compare your exact route.

FAQ

What is the best time to visit Cambodia weather-wise?
November to March is the sweet spot: dry, less humid and cooler, with Siem Reap seeing only ~3 rainy days in its driest month (January). March–May stays dry but hot; June–October is the green season with short, heavy afternoon downpours.
Does it rain all day in the wet season?
Rarely. Even in the wettest month, rain usually comes as a short, heavy afternoon burst: mornings are often clear. The coast is wetter than inland: Koh Rong peaks near 520 mm in September versus 318 mm for Siem Reap in September.
How hot does Cambodia get?
Daytime highs sit around 30–35°C most of the year, peaking in April before the rains. Humidity, not the thermometer, is what most visitors feel: plan outdoor sightseeing for the morning and rest at midday.

Plan around it

Weather is only half the picture: pair it with the crowds and the festival calendar.
