Choose the Airport Express Bus if its city corridor leaves you with a manageable final journey to your hotel. Consider a direct app-booked car if your hotel is away from that corridor or you would prefer fewer changes with luggage. Compare the whole journey, including the last leg from the bus stop.
Does the bus route suit your hotel?
Phnom Penh City Bus identifies its airport service as Route AEB and advertises 1,500 KHR per person, per trip. That is the bus fare to use in your comparison, before adding any onward transport. See the City Bus service page.
The airport describes the city-bound route as passing along Monivong Boulevard and ending at Kouch Kanong Circle Bus Station. Use this corridor as your starting point, then compare it with your hotel's exact map pin. The airport's route description also lists intermediate stops.
Ask your hotel which stop it recommends and how to complete the journey from there. Check the actual walking route with your bags in mind; do not choose a stop solely because it looks close on a map. If you would need another ride, include that cost and change of vehicle in the decision.
When to consider an app-booked car
The airport names Grab among its smartphone booking options on its Car Rental & Taxi page. This gives you an advertised alternative to investigate for a direct journey to your hotel.
Enter the exact hotel destination and check the current quote before confirming. Verify that the selected vehicle suits your passenger and luggage count, and check the payment method. For a group, compare the car quote with everyone's bus fares plus any onward ride—not with a single bus ticket.
Follow the current app instructions and airport signage for pickup. Do not rely on an old screenshot of a meeting point. If you would rather arrange a transfer through your hotel, first ask whether it offers one and request the total price and meeting instructions in writing.
Arriving in the evening?
The airport and City Bus pages give different service closing times. Confirm the service for your arrival day directly with City Bus before making the bus essential to your plan; neither published closing time should be treated as a confirmed last departure from the airport. Keep an alternative in mind if your flight or baggage collection runs late.
Make the choice before you fly
- Save your hotel's exact address and map pin offline.
- Choose AEB only after checking a suitable stop and the final journey to your hotel.
- Compare the total cost for your group, including any ride after the bus.
- For an app-booked car, check the quote, payment method and space for your passengers and bags before confirming.
- For an evening arrival, confirm bus service for your travel day and prepare an alternative.
