Why Visit
Wat Preah Prom Rath is a working Buddhist monastery in central Siem Reap, close to the Old Market. Its courtyard, painted religious scenes and Buddha images make it a worthwhile stop on a walk along the river. It is distinct from the archaeological temples of Angkor.
Respect prayer and teaching activities, and enter halls only where visitors are welcome. Cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes when required and keep a quiet distance from worshippers. Access to particular interiors can vary. The central location makes it easy to combine the monastery with the market and riverside without arranging a separate journey.
