Understand the site
Rajendravarman II founded Pre Rup in 961 after returning the capital to Angkor. The brick-and-laterite temple-mountain stands on the same north–south axis as East Mebon.
Its central sanctuary once housed a linga associated directly with the king. APSARA also highlights the monument as an important example of technically delicate brick conservation.
