Why Visit
Tuol Sleng preserves the former S-21 prison in Phnom Penh. The museum's archives and exhibitions document Khmer Rouge repression and the people imprisoned here. Along with Choeung Ek and the former M-13 prison, it forms the Cambodian Memorial Sites inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2025.
This is a place for remembrance and reflection. The subject matter and some displays are distressing; consider this when planning a visit with children. Allow an unhurried visit and a quiet break afterwards. Follow the museum's rules for dress and photography, and consult its official website for current visitor arrangements.
